A property management company in Downtown are hiring an accountant to join their collaborative team.

Your new company

A successful privately-owned real estate company with business operations in real estate investment and property management. The company has significant assets under management, with various asset-class properties (industrial, commercial, retail, etc.) in 5 Canadian provinces. The company has ambitious growth plans in the coming years and is now looking to add to their tightknit team.


Your new role

We are seeking a new Accountant who will join several others in Accounting & Finance. This will be a diverse role spanning property accounting and corporate accounting, as well as some accounting-related and property management-related administration.

•Full-cycle accounting
•Process and code accounts payable invoices
•Prepare account reconciliations
•Create chargeback invoices
•Contact tenants to collect rental arrears
•Respond to tenants on a timely basis and according to existing lease documentation
•Prepare working papers
•Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close and financial reporting
•Provide data and documents to external accountants
•Assist with annual budgeting
•Common area maintenance (CAM) reconciliations for income producing properties (IPP)
•Perform variance and ad-hoc financial analyzes
•Financial system optimization (Sage 300)

What you'll need to succeed

We are looking for employees with a can-do attitude and a team-player mentality. Candidates will have great intermediate-level technical accounting skills as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
•Post-secondary education related to accounting & finance is required
•3 to 5 years’ experience in a relevant accounting position
•CPA designation is preferred
•Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word
•Experience using Sage 300 (formerly Timberline) is an asset.
•Experience working in the real estate industry is a significant asset, but not required. At a minimum, candidates will be genuinely interested in the fast-paced and high-change Canadian real estate sector.
•High attention to detail and accuracy
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to respond professionally to inquiries from external stakeholders
•Ability to work both independently and within a team
•Ability to handle high pressure situations, solve problems, and multi-tasks in a fast-paced environment
•Excellent prioritization, organizational, and customer service skills
