Our client offers unique electronic packaging design services for the medical, military, avionic, aerospace, sensor and high-end industrial markets.
Your new role
The Product Engineer role participates in every phase of the manufacturing cycle from quotation to delivery, interacting with all departments of the organization.
- Coordinate with Sales & the customer to help define the scope of work to be performed within the current manufacturing phase of the project (process development, characterization, qualification, validation, and production).
- Prepare technical quotations and proposals for build-to-print and turnkey mandates for microelectronic subassemblies, finished devices, and process development activities.
- Review product documentation (Bill of materials, design and test specifications, quality and regulatory standards).
- Assess feasibility; identify constraints, assumptions, exclusions, costs, and lead time.
- Manage design activities of new and existing products.
- Ensure compatibility between substrate, component, manufacturing material, manufacturing process, test methods, industry standards, environmental conditions, and customer constraints.
- Design thick-film hybrid substrates and PCB layouts, including component placement.
- Design phototools for thick-film hybrid substrate layer printing process.
- Design stencils for automated solder printing process on thick-film hybrid and PCB substrates.
- Define step-by-step manufacturing processes and estimate labour rates: SMT, through-hole and hand solder, flip-chip and die placement, gold and aluminum wire bonding, glob top and encapsulation, dicing, manual assembly.
- Coordinate with Process Engineering to identify manufacturing tooling needs.
- Manage product documentation and change control.
- Draft and maintain product documentation for ERP (Bill of materials, manufacturing traveller, manufacturing drawings, and work instructions).
- Prepare and manage Engineering Change Notices (ECN), Temporary Manufacturing Instructions (TMI), and Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (pFMEA).
- Act as a primary technical contact.
- Coordinate with Sales, Purchasing, Operations, Process Engineering, and Production.
- Provide technical support to Customers and Vendors.
What you need to succeed
To succeed in this role you will have a bachelor's or superior in electronical engineering, experience with ISO and IPC norms and regulations, experience in a manufacturing environment, experience with product design (asset), experience with Autodesk/autoCAD, fusion360, ability to work autonomously and proactively, posses excellent communication skills in both English and french.
