Your new role
Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Equipment Procurement Manager (EMP) is responsible to lead and execute purchasing strategies nationally in obtaining high-quality and reliable equipment. The EMP is expected to develop and implement procurement standards and policies, develop a quality and reliable supplier list, and execute of all purchasing activities.
Major Responsibilities
- Develop and execute procurement strategies for the efficient and cost-effective acquisition of equipment
- Collaborate with business users and Project Managers to comprehend equipment requirements and formulate procurement plans aligned with organizational objectives
- Identify, assess, and select reliable suppliers, negotiate contracts for favorable terms and conditions
- Develop a list of reliable suppliers, fostering relationships to ensure consistent product quality
- Lead and organize all purchasing activities to streamline processes, enhance efficiency, and reduce lead times
- Communicate proactively with internal stakeholders, providing updates on procurement activities and addressing concerns
What you need to succeed
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Procurement, or related disciplines
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in purchasing equipment for large supermarkets or food production retail chain
- Strong familiarity with procuring commercial equipment, including refrigerators, freezers, food maker, cooler, heater, fixture, etc
- Strong network of suppliers and manufacturers in China is mandatory
- Excellent technical understanding of supermarket equipment
- Demonstrated proficiency in negotiation and communication skills
- Proficient in both written and spoken English, ability to communicate in Chinese is an asset
- Ability to work independently
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently
