System Administrator (F/M) | PERMANENT

Location : BARRIE
Availability/Duration: ASAP + Permanent position
Working Organization l : Full ON SITE

We are seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to join our dynamic Information Technology team. The successful candidate can be based out of either our Collingwood, Barrie or Orillia office. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Information Technology, this position is responsible for the deployment, maintenance and on-going management of data centre hardware and software, providing third level problem resolution and support to our team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing, maintaining, and upholding procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring all aspects of Network, Server, and Storage performance
  • Accurately document instances of hardware failure, repair, installation, and removal
  • Assist in developing long-term strategies and capacity planning for meeting future network, server, storage, software, and hardware needs
  • Aid in development of business continuity and disaster recovery plans, maintain current knowledge of plan executable, and respond to crises in accordance with business continuity and disaster recovery plans
  • Plan, acquire, and coordinate installation of onsite and remote office hardware and software across the organization’s network and cloud-based infrastructure .
  • Assist with research on data centre products in support of Business requirements, IT Infrastructure procurement and capacity management efforts.
  • Provide elevated subject matter expertise to junior members of the teams related to PC hardware and peripheral equipment improvements, upgrades, and repairs.
  • Manage and ensure effectiveness of servers, and their associated operating systems and software.
  • Manage daily, weekly, and monthly backups including validation to help maintain backups, retention policies and integrity and restoration of data.
  • Responsible for on-site, off-site, and cloud-based data centres, including UPS, racks, and associated equipment.
  • Monitor and manage core services (DNS, DHCP, GPO) and oversee the administration of access rights.
  • Manage and ensure effectiveness of security solutions, including firewalls, anti-virus solutions, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Manage and ensure optimal operation of all network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points etc.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain operational efficiency within all aspects of corporate Virtualization platforms.

Key Technical Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of industry experience working as a subject matter expert in the Microsoft technology stack.
  • Minimum of 5 years of industry experience working with vSphere and Hyper-V virtualization platforms required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience advising on, managing and/or successfully delivering cloud solutions, specifically Azure (IaaS, PaaS, or SaaS)
  • Strong understanding of ITIL best practices and enterprise level IT.
  • Advanced knowledge of Cisco Meraki administration and required.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory environment is required.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Exchange Online, including all aspects of Email Security required.
  • Working knowledge of M365 products and services; required.
  • Working knowledge of backup hardware and software systems required.
  • Excellent hardware and software troubleshooting skills for servers, network and storage equipment.
  • Solid networking experience and knowledge of Internet access protocols (i.e., TCP/IP, LAN/WAN) protocols, switches, and Internet circuits).
