We have a career opportunity for a Project Engineer. In this position you will report directly to the Manager of Project Implementation of project team.


Your new role


  • In conjunction with the project managers, you will support project implementation with the engineering and construction contractors to advance the project through regulatory filing, detailed engineering, procurement, construction and turn-over while maintaining the required levels of safety, quality, cost, schedule and reporting.
  • Draft and facilitate completion of technical project documents including: Scopes of Work, Contemplated Change Notices (CCN’s), Change order responses, Request for Quote (RFQ), etc.
  • Work with Supply Chain and Project Management to secure engineering contractors through selection process, contract development and award.
  • Oversee 3rd party engineering to ensure work is executed and managed in accordance with approved plans, contracts, schedules and budgets.
  • Facilitate project design reviews with Project Stakeholders during detailed engineering.
  • Manage the workflow between the companies external consultants. Collaborate and provide engineering support to Project Stakeholders (Land, Environmental, Regulatory, Operations, Technical Services Engineering, etc.).
  • Draft and facilitate completion of project change management documents including: Management of Change (MOC) narratives, schedule analyses, budget forecasts for elements within the project execution program. Work with project controls to update engineering and material monthly forecasts
  • Lead the resolution of technical/engineering issues during detailed engineering, construction and commissioning including information requests and needs.
  • Work closely with Construction Management Team (CMT), Prime construction contractor, and other stakeholders to support construction execution alignment with commercial drivers and scope requirements.
  • Support the Construction Management Team (CMT) as well as the Commissioning and Operations Integration teams to effectively manage turnover.
  • Identify and document opportunities for improvement as lessons learned throughout the design development, implementation, and turnover process.
  • Contribute to the continual improvement of the company’s project management tools and processes. Support the management of site construction emphasizing safety and quality management.
  • Attend site throughout the project to support the construction management team on site during construction.
  • Support Information Management ensuring records are appropriately tracked and filed.
  • Maintain project quality objectives by documenting non-conformances (NCR), opportunities for improvement (OFI), lessons learned and assisting quality audits.


What you will need to succeed


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, concentration in mechanical, electrical, civil or chemical preferred.
  • Eligible to register with APEGA.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Proven analytical skills and critical thinking skills with the ability to research, gather, analyze, and synthesize multiple sources of information (technical, contractual, regulatory, etc.).
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills, with strong networking/relationship building capabilities.
