Human Resources Manager, Property Management, Canada/ US, Ottawa, Flexible work model, $$$

Hays Human Resources division in Ontario, is partnered exclusively with our client as they expand their team, hiring a Human Resources Manager in Ottawa.

Your new Company

The company is a well-established, family owned and operated group that operates as an owner and manager in the Residential Property Management industry across Canada and the US. Due to continued growth and progression planning, the company is expanding and hiring a Human Resources Manager to join the team. This role will be based at the company’s head office in Ottawa.

Your new role

As the Human Resources Manager, reporting directly to the owner, and working closely with the CFO, you will be responsible for owner the HR function for your assigned client group, 100 employees across multiple office locations in Ontario and the United States. You will support your client group for an end-to-end full employee life cycle, focusing on the areas of Talent Acquisition and Recruitment, Onboarding, Compliance, HRIS database maintenance, HR policies and procedures, external partnership management, and other projects as required. You will support the group in a strategic business partnering capacity, while being someone who can execute the day-to-day HR operational needs of your assigned client group. Your duties will consist of the following: to interview candidates virtually, to complete hiring paperwork, including budgeting, background and criminal record cheques, to process all internal paperwork as required for termination, to ensure compliance with different state requirements, to keep record and follow up for garnishment related issues, to create accountability for each position, to maintain employee benefits, to deal with external auditors questions regarding hiring and termination, to help with employee insurance external audit forms, and queries (i.e., indemnity and workers compensation claims), and all other responsibilities as assigned.

What you’ll need to Succeed

To succeed as the Human Resources Manager, you will bring 6–9 years of experience in Human Resources Management. Experience from another heavy labour industry is valued. Experience specifically coming from Property Management is considered as an asset. You will be someone who understands the urgency of working in this industry. You will have completed post-secondary education in the form of a BA, HRM and/ or CHRP/ CHRL, and will bring experience supporting employee groups across Canada and the US most ideally, though if you do not possess this experience, you will be someone who is resourceful and excited to gain such experience. You will be detail oriented, highly organized and someone who acts with maturity and confidentiality. You will be forward-thinking and progressive in your approach to HR and be someone who truly values building long-term partnerships with business to be effective in your role. You will be someone who is very organized, and who thrives in a fast-paced, continually changing environment. Further, any experience relating to Change Management is considered an asset.
