Your new company

Hays Specialist Recruitment has partnered with a commercial real estate firm located in Toronto, ON. We are looking to hire a Junior Accountant to join their team on a contract basis of 2 - 3 months, which has the possibility of extension/ permanent.

Your new role

1. Financial Reporting: Assisting senior accountants in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual closings. This involves updating general ledgers, maintaining accounts payable and receivable, and ensuring the accuracy of financial data in databases.
2. Financial Statements: Processing income statements, balance sheets, and other financial statements according to the company’s legal, financial, and accounting guidelines. Junior Accountants play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records.
3. Reconciliations: Performing reconciliations, including updating accounts payable and receivable. They ensure that all business transactions are properly recorded.
4. Payroll and Expenses: Assisting with reviewing payroll records and expenses, among other assigned tasks. This includes managing monthly payroll for employees.
5. Fixed Assets: Taking responsibility for maintaining, updating, and recording documentation related to the company’s fixed assets.
6. Customer Service: Communicating with vendors regarding billing issues, providing basic customer service, and answering any inquiries related to invoices.
7. Regulatory Compliance: Assisting with reviewing, preparing, and filing reports to confirm the company’s compliance with provincial and federal regulations.

What you'll need to succeed

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Yardi would be a strong asset
