Your New Company: Our client, a Government organization, is looking to hire an IT Procurement & Asset Management Lead to join their team on a permanent basis. Your New Role: IT Procurement & Asset Management Lead oversees daily and long-term strategic management and procurement of IT assets (software and technology hardware) and is the key IT resource responsible for collaborating with Purchasing for the selection, procurement and ongoing management and maintenance of IT contracts. The incumbent is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive asset management strategy, policies and procedures to ensure assets are maintained through their lifecycles, from acquisition to retirement; optimizing technology spend; and vendor management. The incumbent oversees clerical and technical staff; establishes and maintains effective relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts.
Develop, implement and promote governance, strategies, policies and procedures for tracking IT technology assets (hardware and software) throughout their lifecycles; develop and maintain asset tracking systems used to monitor and maintain accurate asset inventories and reporting; define requirements for asset acquisition, tracking, and retirement.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure the organization remains compliant with vendors’ licencing agreements; develop appropriate processes and protocols and implement tools required to hold all IT and business stakeholders accountable for optimizing the cost, risk and benefit of technology assets.
Collaborate with Purchasing for IT contracts to oversee the pre-solicitation planning, vendor selection, contract award, contract management, contract negotiation, contract renewal and closure; work with staff and vendors to document and agree on requirements and terms; analyze and identify savings opportunities for renewals, software licencing and maintenance agreements.
Develop and generate reports for software/maintenance agreements and to accurately track asset information, licence allocation and renewals.
Prepare and manage non-salary operating budgets; monitor expenditures; participate in the preparation of variance reports, account for discrepancies and take remedial action, as required.
Provide direction and guidance to staff members including recruitment, performance management, training and coaching; conducts investigations and administers discipline.
Represent the department at grievance hearings, arbitrations and labour management meetings.
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
University degree at the Bachelor’s level in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline and 5 years of related experience in IT asset management OR, an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
The role requires considerable knowledge of: IT Asset management principles and practices, procurement and inventory control systems, software licencing and hardware terminology.
This role requires the ability to:
- Negotiate with vendors regarding hardware/software agreements
- Plan and manage division budgets
- Analyze and evaluate various data and information
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts
- Audit and document IT assets
- Proactively address problems and situations
- Collaborate and communicate with a variety of internal and external parties
The role also requires skill in the use of various software applications.
Driver’s Licence for the Province of British Columbia.
ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) V4 Foundation Certification.
IAITAM (International Association of IT Asset Managers) Certification.
IAITAM CHAMP (Certified Hardware Asset Management Professional) Certification.
