System Administrator

Our client a None Profit, is hiring a Systems Admin on a full time basis

  1. Work with the IT Manager to identify, design and implement new architectural requirements for existing infrastructure, including upgrades, add-ons, and enhancements.
  2. Manage, monitor, and maintain physical and virtual servers, network environment, and related tools (e.g. DNS).
  3. Provide tier 3 hardware, software, and network-related support to our clients staff.
  1. Create knowledge base articles and other training material to help staff set up and use computers, other hardware, and some applications.
  1. Act as a contact for technology-related vendors and manage technology-related purchases where required.
  2. Purchase and set up new computers, other hardware, and applications for our clients staff as needed.
  3. With consultation from the IT Manager, design standard operating procedures and standards to ensure continuous and comprehensive documentation of our clients IT systems.
  4. With consultation from the IT Manager, develop and implement industry best-practice backup procedures and disaster recovery plans and ensure required procedures are occurring on a daily basis.
  5. Work with the IT Manager to design a robust monitoring system to ensure all applications are continuously available to staff, are up-to-date, and meet vendor license obligations.
  6. Facilitate the ongoing operations and maintenance of all hardware, network equipment, and related software and applications.
  7. Research and make recommendations regarding appropriate software and infrastructure related purchases to meet ongoing business needs.
  8. Advise the IT Manager of security or privacy related breaches.

What you'll need to succeed
  • Minimum 5 years practical experience in server / network/ mail administration and end user application support
  • A College Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or equivalent
  • MCSE, Server+, VCP, and/or other related certifications will be considered an asset
  • Sound understanding of network setup and maintenance for a multi-site organization
  • Hands on experience in end-user technical support and troubleshooting
  • Excellent oral, written and listening communication skills, able to work effectively within a team environment
  • Direct project management experience in organization-wide technology deployments
  • Demonstrated strong analytical, organizational, conceptual and decision making skills
  • Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to explain technical terms in plain language
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision; high level of initiative and self-direction
  • Able to travel to program sites as needed
