Project Coordinator

Our client in the insurance industry is searching for a Senior Project Coordinator for a 1 year contract.

Your new role
The successful candidate will participate in all aspects of analysis and reporting related to the program. This will include assisting the Program Team in monthly and quarterly analysis, maintain a deep understanding of the program health, and identifying trends in the program. The incumbent will have strong communication skills, Excel skills and be familiar with project management tools such as Microsoft Project. To be successful in the role, the candidate will be familiar with project management methodologies and be customer and team focused

Key Accountabilities
Program Management Support:
  • Assist Program Team in program planning, scheduling and report variance to program schedule, budget and scope
  • Assist Program Team in ongoing management of project financials
  • Assist Program Team in developing processes and deliverables to maintain a deep understanding of the program health
  • Assist Project or Program Manager in identifying and tracking program trending
  • Track and report project issues
  • Track and report action items
  • Provide monitor and control support by tracking the completion of program deliverables and escalating as appropriate
  • Track portfolio changes.
  • Lead analysis and impact assessment of changes to the program.
  • Track and report on key program metrics
  • Prepare project status reporting for assigned deliverables
  • Maintain program reporting, including preparation of the monthly program review material
  • Research project management themes in emerging areas such as project management processes, tools and technologies
  • Support documentation of program management processes, procedures and tools


What you'll need to succeed
  • Excellent Excel and data analysis skills; ability to analyze financials, understand trending and develop reports
  • Strong PC skills, with experience in using Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Project and SharePoint
  • Strong financial acumen
  • Good financial analysis skills to track program trending and financials
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills Flexible and adaptable when dealing with change
  • Solid project management fundamentals (e.g., scope, costs, benefits, risks)
  • Ability to review change controls and project artifacts, and have follow up discussions with stakeholders
  • Preparation of commentary to summarize submitted change requests
  • Flexibility to accommodate global project schedules, which may include off-hours conference call and occasional travel as required
  • Collaborate with geographically and culturally diverse cross-functional teams Good relationship management and teaming skills
  • Good problem solving and analytical skills
  • Developing interviewing and facilitation skills
  • Awareness of project management and software development methodologies
Education/Experience:
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent experience in project management
  • Working towards PMP or other industry recognized PM designation
  • 3-5 yrs. experience working in a PMO Previous experience in a project team environment with some project leading responsibilities
  • Strong organization, communication and problem solving skills
  • Effective presentation skills
