Our client of Hays, a global AEC organization is looking for a Manager of Global Communications to join their team. Reporting to the Global Director of Marketing and Communications, the Manager of Global Communications will manage the development and implementation of communication strategies to support and advance strategic initiatives as a technology-driven design firm. This individual manages our external and internal stakeholder engagement through the creation of compelling copy, coordination of content on social media and other online channels, and by driving overall sustainable and effective communications.

Your new role
As the Manager, Global Communications:
  • Proactively source content from multiple business sources and develop communications for various vehicles, including leadership messages, press releases, intranet, town halls, webcasts, video, presentations, and social media
  • Oversee the internal communication and employee engagement strategy, including development of communications plans and management of all tactics
  • Collaborate and work with the Global Director, brand, digital and regional marketing leads in developing and executing a content marketing strategy, developing new editorial content, and managing an editorial calendar for content across all channels
  • Collaborate and work with the Global Director, brand, digital and regional marketing leads in developing and executing a public relations strategy, including media relations, community development and social media
  • Develop and implement communications strategies and plans, while assisting to build out policies and procedures and corporate communications standards
  • Research and write corporate communications including presentations, speeches, select correspondence, news releases, new hire announcements, company-wide memos and talking points for senior leadership team ensuring communication material is thorough, accurate, complete and error-free
  • Create quality content, and lead meaningful engagement through all existing digital media channels, including social media, Insights blog, and the website
  • Manage relations with media, including maintaining media lists, engaging through social media, authoring press releases, and being the central point of contact for all media inquiries. Collaborate with brand and regional marketing leads to coordinate media responses, outreach and/or reporting
  • Final copy edit of content for the Insights blog, website and social media channels. Partner with the Brand and Digital Marketing leads to ensure content across these channels is current and consistent
  • Assert an expert role in the preparation and execution of all types of communications initiatives, acting as a ‘go-to’ resource for colleagues and business partners on ‘best practices’ and details related to their implementation
  • Support internal initiatives that build employee excitement around our brands, core businesses, new business launches, and build upon our reputation as a leader in the North American design space

  • Develop and manage communication activity in support of practice leads/business leaders, including communication strategy and message development, coaching and counsel, vehicle selection, writing and editorial services, production, and distribution
  • Provide support and counsel to internal clients, including senior leaders, offering recommendations on internal communications strategy, content, schedules and deliverables
  • Engage in regular dialogue with senior managers and other employees to maintain an understanding of the current employee communication challenges and requirements
  • Work closely and collaborate with countries, ensuring they utilize the global programs and best practice is shared across the global organization
  • Identify and leverage programs and resources in key countries which can be tailored/elevated into the global program
  • Liaise with regional marketing teams to ensure consistent messaging globally around key employee communications and initiatives (both internally and externally)

What you'll need to succeed
As the Manager, Global Communications:
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a corporate communications environment, preferably as a communications coordinator or manager, public relations, digital/social media manager, or experience in a strategic communications or public relations agency
  • Experience across digital channels; knowledge of the production requirements associated with each platform
  • Demonstrated understanding of web management (from a content perspective) and social
  • media marketing, and a high degree of knowledge of electronic communications and delivery capabilities
  • Experience with WordPress, Mailchimp, Hootsuite, SharePoint, Google Analytics, and the Microsoft Office suite preferred
  • Current understanding of best practice marketing communications techniques, including digital media, typically gained through roles in marketing or agency environments
  • Excellent writing, editing and grammar skills
  • Excellent communication, organization and attention to detail
  • Track record of developing and executing successful communications programs, as well as influencer/advocacy initiatives
  • A consummate team player who brings a passionate, positive and high-energy approach to client service, team management and delivering results
  • Highly effective working with and through others. You have a truly collaborative style with an ability to effectively influence others through a collaborative, thoughtful and tactful communication style
  • Experience in a communications role in the architecture, engineering, planning, technology industries is nice to have but not a requirement

What you'll get in return
As the Manager, Global Communications, you will receive a starting base salary in the range of $110,000 - $130,000. In addition to the base salary, you will also receive an annual discretionary bonus. You will receive 4 weeks vacation, benefits, and the ability to enroll in an RRSP Matching program in early 2022.
