Due to growth they are seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician to join their growing yet established team in Winnipeg. As an advocate of lifetime career growth, you will receive training and opportunities for promotion within as you grow.
About the Location
Winnipeg is the capital of Manitoba and has regular amounts of construction, with equipment to fix. It is also within the general region of mining and forestry projects that will also require repairs in the field. You will be working on a 5x2 schedule during daytime hours and may occasionally need to stay away for the night when travelling further away for work (covered by SMS)
Your new role
Your team will become like family and you’ll be working alongside many people who have enjoyed multiyear employment with SMS.
You will be responsible for working in the shop initially during training, but move to mostly field work eventually to perform assemblies, preventative maintenance, repairs and complete overhauls of heavy equipment servicing the construction, mining, forestry, and utility industries. You will need to be able to make recommendations and suggest methods of improvement regarding repairs. As a heavy equipment technician, you will need to be able to think logically and keep up with changes in technology. You will interpret work orders and technical manuals to guarantee top customer satisfaction. You must be motivated and able to work in a challenging environment and have strong awareness and attitude towards workplace health and safety.
What you'll need to succeed
We are looking to hire a 3rd year apprentice or Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician to join our Winnipeg branch. You will have experience in repair/maintenance of heavy duty equipment. Preferably with construction and mining size Komatsu, John Deere, CAT, Hitachi, or other brands. You will also bring strong written and verbal communication skills to the team.
Our successful candidate is intrinsically motivated and committed to making safe choices, when completing all tasks. Excellent customer service and communication skills are invaluable in a dealership environment.
