My client is a growing consumer products company with its manufacturing plant located in Mississauga seeking a cost accountant for a newly created role in the organisation.
Your new role
The Costing Accountant reports to the VP Finance and is responsible for working with the cross-functional team to ensure the accurate costing of products, analyze sales pricing, and to synthesize their impacts on product profitability. The Cost Accountant is responsible to review and analyze operational variances from the Job/Order Management system. The position will collaborate with Operations and Supply Chain to develop meaningful KPIs to measure operational performance (OEE, Capacity Utilization, Total Cost of Quality, MOA – Manufacturing Overhead Applied etc) as well as support the Supply Chain Manager on Strategic Vendor management (Total Cost) analysis. The Cost Accountant will support the implementation of ABC costing methodology for accurate allocation of overhead. The position will analyze inventory valuations and cycle count/physical count variances. The position will provide analysis on Cost of Goods Produced (COGP). The Cost accountant will analyze impact of cost changes in product costing and on gross margin. The role will analyze manufacturing operations, equipment availability and utilization and maintain cost accounting system and cost ledger. The Cost Accountant will support implementing cost standards for materials, labour, and overhead. The Cost Accountant will also be involved with pricing analysis, analyzing pricing of products, channel pricing, and market pricing data. The role will also prepare month end entries and reconciliation of operational and supply chain variances, preparing month end reports on cost, pricing, and margin analysis.
What you'll need to succeed
You will have 3-5 years of experience in an accounting and analytical position, within a manufacturing environment. You will ideally be working towards the CPA designation, but they are open to people with the relevant experience not planning to complete the designation. Experience with an ERP system along with advanced Excel skills is required. You will be professional, organized, with strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task. The ability to take initiative and work independently as well as in a team environment is required.
