Our client is a National Contractor with a opening for an office based coordinator in their Toronto Office. They are a leader in commercial and mid rise residential construction with opportunities to grow within the company.
Your new role
As Project Coordinator you will be assisting the Project Manager, Construction Manager and Site Staff with all administration duties related to new construction.
Track projects through estimation, construction, release, and closing.
Create P.O.’s and work order forms.
Process change orders and related requests.
File and maintain updated records for all projects.
Assist in sourcing for sub trades and materials.
Track to ensure each project is within budget and on schedule.
Meet with architects, engineers and others regarding proposed construction projects.
Coordinate the permit process as assigned including the front counter activities as well as reviewing permit applications and actual permits for accuracy.
Prepare and maintain required records and written reports.
Read, interpret, and understand construction drawings and specifications, the city codes and ordinances regarding building codes, permit issuance, and permit fees.
Coordinate the daily activities of project staff, construction trades and subcontractors, and use corrective actions to keep the project on time and on budget.
What you'll need to succeed
A College or University education in Construction Management or related.
2-5 years’ experience as a Construction Coordinator.
Ability to read blueprints, schematics, field drawings and plans.
A solid understanding of all construction trades and construction techniques.
Strong management, delegation, planning and leadership skills.
Effectiveness in the areas of construction safety and productivity.
Knowledge of local, provincial and federal workplace compliance regulations, ordinances and legislation.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft computer software (e.g. Excel, Word, etc.) and email.
First Aid skills and/or certificates are considered assets.
What you'll get in return
$60,000 - $70,000 per year
