Permanent Payroll Coordinator Opportunity - Downtown Toronto

Based in Downtown Toronto this growing organisation are actively seeking a Payroll Coordinator to join their team on a full time, permanent basis. This role will be joining a team of 8 in Payroll and will be responsible for as a team processing a total payroll of around 7000 employees.

Your new role

  • Payroll Processing Management: Creates bi-weekly payroll summaries and compares them to accounting system data. Identifies and resolves discrepancies and reconciles payroll adjustments utilizing reports from HRIS and Time Resource Management System. Analyses and identifies bank reconciliation differences.
  • Regular Operations: Daily: inquires: email, mail, voicemail, employee inquires etc. Payroll Bank reporting and reviewing activities.
  • Remittance: Review and reconcile Employer Health Tax, Canada Revenue Agency (CPP, EI, Taxes), and other remittance: United Way, RRSP, and others as required.
  • Reconciliation: Bi-weekly – Post payroll review: Validate current and previous pay deductions, Compare Gross and net pay, over and under report and others as required. Third Party demands, Union dues and other remittances, Audit T4 balances and all items aligned with Payroll reporting and T4 reporting.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Ability to work well under minimal supervision and under pressure of working within strict deadlines.
  • Minimum two years Payroll processing experience and time attendance systems. Working knowledge of PeopleSoft is an asset.
  • Must have computer experience with Excel, MS Word, Internet Explorer and Outlook. Advance computer skills including spreadsheet management using Excel (formulas, lookups, pivot tables etc.). Solid experience and understanding of payroll software functions.
  • Working knowledge of Canadian provincial and federal employment legislation applied to the payroll function.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with all Service members and external individuals and agencies, in an efficient and effective manner.
  • PCP Designated or close to completion
