Your new role
As the Subcontract HSE Specialist, you will work collaboratively with the Indirect Procurement team and the Health, Safety and Environmental division to actively manage subcontracts across a variety of suppliers and vendors. Reporting directly to the Director of Procurement, you will spearhead HSE governance of sub-contractors working onsite at the Halifax Shipyard. You will take ownership of this autonomous position and demonstrate your passion for work place environmental health and safety procedures in a strategic procurement position. You will support the HSE Manager to ensure contractors work in accordance with the OSHA by conducting training and orientation sessions regarding prevention of accidents. Additionally, you will partner with the JHSC to develop, document, improve, maintain and audit the supply chain process to adhere to HSE policy and ISO-14001 standards.

What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate will have a University degree in Engineering, Business, or Occupational Health & Safety. The candidate will have a passion for Health, Safety and Environmental controls, combined with 5-10+ years of strong Procurement exposure within contracts or subcontracts. This specialized position requires a software savvy approach, ERP implementation exposure and experience automating and digitizing a sub-contracting process. Exposure to large ERP platforms including JD Edwards is imperative for success in this role combined with strong understanding of MS Excel. A CRSP designation is considered an asset.
