Your new role

Reporting directly to the Director of Procurement within the Ship repair division, the Senior Procurement Specialist will work closely with the direct and indirect teams. The Senior Procurement Specialist will have an opportunity to progress, learn and collaborate in an exciting procurement position with the opportunity to apply industrial expertise, energy and strategic procurement capabilities in an innovative and progressive environment. The Senior Procurement Specialist is responsible for delivering Best In Class procurement strategies by using 21st century eProcurement systems. This role presents an opportunity to demonstrate your exceptional leadership and communication skills where you will establish relationships with worldwide suppliers to drive innovation within the team and assist in the implementation of process improvements. Responsible for managing suppliers and contracts, you will negotiate and execute long term agreements through ISI’s ERP and MRP systems. You will apply your experience and expertise within integrated sourcing initiatives including category sourcing strategies by analyzing market pricing conditions. Focused on continuous improvement, you will undertake cost analysis for direct material and services, support new product introduction activities, and consistently look for opportunities within the team to improve performance


What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate will have a degree or diploma in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, Accounting or Finance, or a related field, as well as 5-8 years’ experience in a project-focused and progressive business. Exposure to Oil and Gas, Machinery, Aerospace, Shipbuilding, or Nuclear industries are advantageous. Exposure to new eProcurement systems such as Jaggaer or Ariba or direct experience acting as a systems lead for new implementation projects will be valuable as Irving is using 21st century eProcurement systems. Experience creating complex SLA’s and contracts for a worldwide supplier base is imperative for this role. The Senior Procurement Specialist must have strong communication and leadership skills as you will be responsible to empower a high energy team. The Senior Procurement Specialist will demonstrate strong analytical skills with a high attention to detail, and have a strong sense of urgency in completing tasks. An SCMP or CIPS designation is considered an asset. As a technologically savvy procurement professional you will become an SME within your field. Proven examples improving the customer experience are critical. A keen energetic approach and ability to deliver results is essential for success within this growing opportunity.
